Many patients have been told that they are not candidates for dental implants due to the lack of bone in the upper jaw. These patients can benefit from zygomatic implants. Zygomatic implants are done for the edentulous upper jaw where there is severe bone resorption of the maxilla (upper jaw) where bone conditions have insufficient anchorage for a prosthesis (fixed bridges or overdentures).
Zygoma implants are offered for patients with severe bone loss in the maxilla. Sometimes bone grafting can not replace all necessary bone to place implants for a proper prosthesis. These implants are actually anchored in the cheekbone and provide excellent stability for a dental prosthesis.
